Happy Birthday My Brother

Artist Danny Roberts Portrait of his brother david roberts aka damien t wallace as a pirate pen and ink black and white.

Well, it's brother David's birthday today!
He turned 28. So crazy. :)
So i thought i would post an old pirate drawing i did of him as his alter ego "Damien T. Wallace"
We saw Joseph Arthur late last night to kick off the birthday celebration,
which was the perfect way to start it off,
because this was Dave's first time seeing him perform live.
Seriously, it is beyond me how Joseph Arthur is not one of the biggest names in Music.
The guy is ridiculous.
He has written a zillion albums that are all fantastic.
His live performances are something you have never seen before.
He goes up there by himself, ad libs on the spot, and creates new versions of his songs.
He builds up loops of different instruments, and then picks up a paint brush and begins painting on a canvas behind him while singing the song....
As you can see, i'm excited/impressed/inspired! haha
Sorry, i will settle down. Needless to say, i think it was a good start to my brother's birthday.
If you could, wish him a Happy Birthday on twitter ;)
His twitter name is @David_Roberts_

The Brothers Roberts

Photo By colin sokol & Rumi Neely of Fashion Toast of the Roberts brothers Danny and David Roberts of Igor and andre at Rachel antonoff Fall 2011 CollectionPicture By Rumi Neely & Colin Sokol

Well Hello Friends and Hello Monday.
It's the first Monday back and there is so much to do.

1: Clean Studio
2: Make Coffee
3: Organize Photos
4: Tackle Email
5: Start painting collections
6: Make More Coffee

That's for just the morning haha
You know, just another Monday ;)
Last night, my friend Rumi Neely (Fashiontoast) was kind enough to send me a picture
she and Colin (her boyfriend) had taken of my brother and me at Rachel Antonoff Fall 2011 Collection.
Rachel's presentation had the theme of a high school Prom,
so we thought we would wear bow ties. : )
Since there really aren't many pictures of us, due to both of us being shy around cameras,
I thought i would post it.
Hope you're having a great day :)

Good Morning!
Have any of you used to Fuji Films new instant cameras?
Fuji just went way up in my book because of it!
I seriously can't believe Polaroid stopped making the very thing they are famous for.
With that said, Fuji is Brilliant for deciding to keep making it!
I just recently bought my camera and i'm still getting to know the best settings for it.
But i really like it. The camera body is kinda huge but it's almost so big it's funny so i don't mind.
These are some picture I took on the New Year's Eve Road trip up to northern California i did with my brother,
to see my friend Benje.
I hope you like them :)

Remembering Rachel

Hey Friends, how was your weekend?
Mine was great! My Family and i went Stand up paddle boarding today,
and it was pretty fun.
Also i finally finished Editing the video i shot at Rachel Antonoff's Spring 2011 Presentation!
I'm really happy on how the video turned out.
My goal was to create a video that captured the mood i felt at the presentation
(which is pretty much the mood i feel 85.3% of the time... hah)
the song in the video is from a group called "Slowblow".
And this song has been one of my favorites for a while so i was so happy that it was a perfect fit for this video!
Let me know what you think!
I hope you like it! :)

The Chictopia 10 Social Influence Summit + After Party

Check out the rest of the Images on my Image Diary

Well, good afternoon my friends,
Finally sorted the pictures into the right folders,
and now been making my way through the folders and picking out the images i like! ;)
Ok! So, my time in New York...
where do i begin?
Well, on the first full day in New York,
My brother & I headed out to the Chictopia 10.
For those who know me,
you know i'm deathly afraid of public speaking.
I'm so terrified of public speaking that in high school
i would not go to school the days of speeches so i wouldn't have to give the speech.
So with that said, i've been excited, but nervous for the Chictopia Summit.
Luckily, i was on a panel with Taghrid Chaaban & Liz Cherkasova who were both wonderful.
It took me till about the end of the discussion to start relaxing.
Thank you, all who were there and thank you for your kind words and great questions.
After our panel was done, Rebecca The Clothes Horse and Judy Aldridge of Atlantis Home ( Jane of Sea of Shoes' mom) came on as the second panel.
It was a wonderful discussion, super interesting.
The Summit was a great success!
It was full of fascinating discussions, and it was wonderful meeting all of you & great hanging out
and catching up with alot of you i haven't seen in way too long of a time!
I wish we could have stayed there way longer cause it was so good seeing you all.
After that my friend Jenna Sauers (Jezebel) & Ryan & Alice, and Dan & Rhetta met up with us at the Chictopia Afterparty.
We had such a good time!
It was definitely one of the highlights on the trip.
i hope you like the pictures, more are coming :)

Valentines Day + Tony Cohen

Hey friends!
So, things have been incredibly busy!
But So Far NY Fashion Week Has Been amazing! :)
I just went to Tony Cohen with my brother David and our New Zealand/America friend Jenna Sauers from the site Jezebel
who we just met a few days ago through Miss Sophie Ward!
As you can hopefully see from the photos, the collection was incredible!
I couldn't believe we got to sit front row at Tony Cohen & Charlotte Ronson's shows.
It's like nothing i've ever experienced.
Seeing the collections that close is so inspiring.
The collection was very fitting for Valentine's Day with an array of red and black.
It was full of beautiful textures and a simple color pallet.

Well, much more is coming... still sorting through images.
But right now, we are off to Sophie Ward's Valentine's Day party, then going to a few after parties...
I have it from a good source that Nina Persson, from the Cardigans, will be DJing at one...
If that is true, i might die of happiness! ;)
Hope you all are doing great.

P.S. the Girls In Glasses Shirt is now on ASOS.com! Go Check it out, if you want to! :)

Sometimes I Want to Travel in a large Caravan

Close up Picture Danny Roberts painting of animals for his brother David Roberts

Well, my friends, since i posted about my brother yesterday,
I thought i would post this painting i did 3 or 4 years ago for my brother's birthday.
The painting is 4ft by 5ft and is on pieces of water color paper. :)
I've been really wanting to find some random forest to go on an adventure lately!
Have i ever told you about my obsession/biggest "want" ever?
Well, it's a TREEHOUSE!
Shoot! I have wanted one so, so, so bad!
Still have never had one..
maybe one of these days.
Well, i hope you all are having a wonderful day!

David T. Roberts - Damien T. Wallace

danny roberts portrait of his Brother David Roberts

Happy Monday friends!
How have you been?
I've been a little under the weather lately.
Been feeling pretty sick and exhausted... not sure what's up..
But on the bright side, i've been laying low and watching a lot of old movies.
Like I watched, for the first time, "White Christmas" and "Holiday Inn"
which were mind blowing good!
I mean, the actors of those days could sing and dance.
It's mesmorizing! Like i've said before, Fred Astaire is my hero.
He is amazing. :)
Also, watched the Sound of Music today!
I wish they still made movies like those great old movies....

Well, the drawing today is of my brother David Roberts that i drew about 3 years ago. :)
My brother is my best friend, and has been incredible in helping me with business and emails,
some of you have had the pleasure of meeting him.
So i thought i would post about him :)
He also is a contributor with me, Stacy Dupree, Cat Khan (Knightcat), Geri Hirsch, Alice Baxley & Ryan Baxley on
"The Dream Walking Society"

P.S. If you're wondering about why the name "Damien T. Wallace" is up in the title, that is my brother's random nickname... :)

Danny Roberts Painting of the Gerlan Jeans Fashion Show

Hello, Hello, Hello, My Friends,
Happy Wednesday!~
We did it! We made it half way through the week!
So how's it going?
So far the week of relaxing has been so so nice and very much needed :)
Well, today is my first drawing post.
I did the drawing last week, and since my brother, Dave,
shared the NYC adventure, i asked him if he would guess write for our first show.
So, it's my pleasure to introduce you to my brother's writing! :)

"Gerlan Jeans - Waiting outside the the Audi Forum, my brother and I had a pleasant surprise. A flash of red hair caught my eye,
and I quickly realized that it was Julia Frakes of Bunny Bisou! There, chatting with her,
was none other than Suzie Bubble of Style Bubble! Danny approached them cautiously,
as he had done portraits of both of them, conversed with them online,
but had never met either of them in person. After conveying his identity to them, hugs were exchanged.
Once through the doors, we checked in and tracked down our seats.

The collection delivered an urban overtone utilizing grey and white prints of broken brick walls,
pink and white prints of clenched fists, and pot leaves. These made their way on to various garments
ranging from overalls, to swimwear, to hoodies, and even underwear.
All in all, it was a fun event and we were so glad to have met Suzi and Julia!"

P.S. Our family cat Milo has a hurt foot, and there is a little girl who lives
in the house next to us who is in love with Milo. So, today she came over and gave Milo a "Get Well" Card she made him.
It is pretty much the most amazing thing ever! So i posted it on my image diary click here to see it :)

The Carousel

Happy Monday, my friends.
How was your weekend?
Well, yesterday my brother and I went down to the Spectrum.
We met up with a group of our friends
and my brother, my friend Alice, and I ended up riding a Carousel!!!
It was so fun. We ended up filming alot when we were on the Carousel :)
I hope you like this minute little short film i made today from the ride.
I think I'm going to take a little drawing break,
cause i've been working nonstop,
so i thought i would try some different kind of blogging this week.
aka this video :)
So how are you doing?
What's your favorite Collection/Fashion Show this season?

P.S. If you have a pretty fast connection, watch the HD version... there's a big difference! ha

New York Fashion Week Sept 2009

Hello Friends!
I'm home! Finally! Sorry about the lack of blogging!
My internet connection in New York was painfully terrible, to say the least! hah
But now that i'm home, i plan on giving you a good, detailed review of the shows & trip,
as well as having some drawings and paintings of the collections coming very soon! ;)
Shoot! i have so much to tell you!
But first things first...
I put this video together for you.
The video is a compilation of videos my brother and I shot during the last week.
A few fashion shows featured in the video are Donna Karan, Siki Im, and Gerlan Jeans.
I hope you like it. :)
The music used in the video is from one of my favorite bands named "South".
The song is off of the album "With the Tides" .

Oh yes! My friend, the beautiful and lovely Miss Gala Gonzalez has a little cameo in the video ;)

The Life Of My Studio

Hello my friends!
Thanks so much for all your Blog Birthday wishes; means alot!
Sorry for the lack of a post last night...
I randomly got the idea to post a video last night, at like 10:30,
and for some reason, i thought it would just take a minute to throw it together....
so needless to say, at 1 in the morning, i realized
i would probably not be up by the time the video stop rendering. hahah
Thus i am posting today.

Ok, i must warn you, it is quiet random...
I made the Video out of Random Clicks of my Studio.
So it's like close ups on paintings and me drawing, and my friends hanging out.
Oh, and also, i have the filming of the concept sketch with Miss Sophie Ward sitting posing for the painting. :)
Well, i hope you enjoy it!
Have a great day!
:)

Mr. David Roberts

Drawing of David Roberts Look straight forward painting by Danny Roberts

How was the weekend, Friends?
You all get enough sleep and rest to start the week?
i sure didn't. haahha.
i'm running on fumes.
Was working all weekend.
Well, the drawing today is one I did of my brother.
We were both sitting across from each other drawing each other.
i drew it with a pen on cardboard and then water colored it and finished it off with chalk pastel.
It was a very fun relaxing night.
We started drawing after our nightly Mario Cart session! Woot, woot!
Hope you all are doing great,
and hope you like the portrait of my brother. :)

A Little Random.

hahah i just stumbled onto this old video.
It's so ridiculous and dummy, but i don't know, it cracks me up...
It was on the week of halloween two years ago, and we decided to dress up every day of the week.
i'm not sure what we were doing in this video, but somehow i was a little too into the poses....
and i lost my footing and... ended up on the ground cut up.....

Oh yes! as my good friend Mr. Ryan Baxley points out below,
this video was filmed the weekend i started the character sketchbook...
and if i remember correctly, i think it was the very day it began... aw... the history... hah

Lost in Translation

This is a Picture of david Roberts in Danny roberts studio
so this is where our voyage started. it was 1:30pm it was blazing hot in my studio, we loaded up the IPOD and let the voyage from the bottom of California to the top begin.
this is a self portrait of Danny Roberts off a mirror
It had a really long while since i had taken pictures. and since i was going to be in a car all day i decided it was good day to reunite with my old friend, the Fuji film/fine pix S1.
this is a picture of david roberts driving the car
with my brother behind the wheel, and nothing but an ipod docking station our trip of transporting the 15 passenger van began.
As we passed Sign after sign and place after place the journey begin to drain us.

this is a photo Danny roberts took of an america flag
Through out the day we passed countless American flags and it brought a smile to my face.

The higher we climbed up the state the smokier it became.

As i became bored on the trip i began to take pictures trying to make it look like i was falling from the sky.
This Photo is a Self portrait of Danny Roberts
I was growing weary as we closed in on our destination.

Finally at Midnight we arrived in Squaw Valley, in Lake Tahoe.... i'm currently in bed sick right now. but once i get better i post some pictures up in Squaw. enjoy
